Armed robbery gang leader, sentenced to death

Muritala Salami, convicted for armed robbery has been sentence to death by the Criminal Division of Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja.

The convict who led a 4 – Man gang was sentenced to death by Justice Adenike Coker, after he was arraigned on a two count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

It was revealed that other members of the robbery gang escaped during the time of arrest.

According to Justice Adenike Coker, the armed robbery gang leader was convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery contrary to section 299 of criminal law and Armed Robbery contrary to section 297 (a) of the Criminal law.

She added that the convict who was arrested for robbery on 16th of April 2016 was found guilty of the two-count charge against him.

The prosecuting counsel, Dr. Jide Martins, a director with the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, recalled how Salami and his gang conspired and robbed one Mr. Okocha Anthony Afiam of two phones and two wristwatches.

Muritala Salami was sentenced to death on wednesday on a two- count charge.
