Returning Officers of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday, May 14, 2026, underwent a comprehensive training exercise at the Main Hall of Alimosho Local Government ahead of the party’s primary elections.

Facilitating the session, Mr. Gakpo informed participants that the primaries would be conducted through an open ballot system popularly known as Option A4. He stressed the need for transparency, orderliness, and strict adherence to the party’s electoral guidelines throughout the exercise.

Key areas covered during the training included the recognition of aspirants, acknowledgment of party leadership, and accreditation of delegates using the party’s official slips.

Participants were also briefed on the Option A4 voting process, where aspirants would stand with banners bearing the names or images of their respective principals while accredited members queue openly behind their preferred candidates.

To ensure credibility and prevent infiltration by unaccredited persons, committee officials were directed to stand at the end of each queue during the counting process. Accurate records are to be taken immediately after counting, while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are expected to endorse and sign the result sheets upon completion of the exercise.
