The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, held its South-West Zonal Congress at the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Stadium, where new executive members were elected to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
The congress, conducted in a largely consensus-driven process, re-elected Dr. Isaac Kekemeke as the South-West Zonal Chairman. Other members of the newly elected executive include Hon. Alfred Aluko as Zonal Secretary, Dr. Lateef Ibirogba as Organising Secretary, Ismail Majaro as Legal Adviser, Ayobami Afolabi as Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Yetunde Adesanya as Woman Leader, and Barr. Daramola Adesuyi as Youth Leader. Mr. Dayo Ishola was also named as the representative of persons living with disabilities.
In his acceptance speech, Kekemeke expressed confidence in the party’s structure across the South-West and pledged to mobilise support to secure overwhelming electoral victories for the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The congress drew delegates from the six South-West states and was attended by governors, former senators, members of state Houses of Assembly, local government chairmen, and other key stakeholders of the party.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who hosted the event, commended the peaceful and mature conduct of the exercise. He also acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in supervising the process, as well as the media for maintaining professionalism in their coverage.
Chairman of the Zonal Electoral Committee, Hon. Jide Jimoh, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the congress, describing the South-West as a stronghold of progressive politics. He affirmed that the exercise was conducted in full compliance with the provisions of the 2022 Electoral Act.
