The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated its leaders and members on the successful conclusion of the party’s National Convention, which produced officers across its various structures.

The party commended members for their resilience, support, and sacrifices in ensuring a smooth and successful exercise.

In a statement issued by the State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the party said attention has now shifted to the process of selecting candidates for the forthcoming elections. He noted that the exercise will strictly comply with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), and other relevant laws.

Ojelabi disclosed that the party will adopt direct primaries as its primary mode of candidate selection, while also allowing for consensus arrangements where such agreements are freely reached and widely accepted by stakeholders.

He emphasized that all elective positions are open for contest, stressing that the party has not endorsed or anointed any aspirant for any office. Members interested in contesting were encouraged to do so in line with laid-down rules, with a clear warning that nomination and administrative fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.

The chairman assured aspirants of a level playing field, noting that the party is committed to conducting free, fair, and transparent primaries that reflect the true will of its members across constituencies.

He further reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusivity and gender equity, stating that female aspirants with strong grassroots support will be given due consideration to enhance their participation in the political process.

While assuring that there will be no imposition of candidates or undue interference in the primaries, Ojelabi urged party members to uphold discipline, decorum, and mutual respect as the party awaits detailed guidelines from its national leadership.

He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and called on all stakeholders to participate in the process with integrity and honor.

“Long live APC, Long live Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
