TINUBU CLINCHES APC TICKET WITH LANDSLIDE 10.9 MILLION VOTES, VOWS STRONGER NIGERIA IN SECOND TERM

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress after polling a massive 10,999,162 votes in the party’s nationwide presidential primary.

The result was announced on Sunday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, where the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, presented President Tinubu with the party’s certificate of return and symbolic flag ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In his acceptance speech, President Tinubu thanked party members for the overwhelming mandate and pledged to deepen ongoing reforms, strengthen national security, and accelerate economic growth if re-elected.

“With another four years of disciplined focus and national cooperation, we will firmly place Nigeria on an irreversible path of economic expansion, industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure development, food sufficiency, and democratic consolidation,” Tinubu declared.

Chairman of the APC Presidential Election Committee, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, announced that Tinubu defeated fellow aspirant Stanley Osifo, who secured 16,503 votes.

According to Anyim, the exercise complied fully with INEC guidelines, electoral laws, and the APC constitution, with voting conducted across Nigeria’s 36 states, the FCT, 774 local governments, and 8,809 wards.

He disclosed that 12,643,316 APC members were registered for the exercise, while 11,069,746 were accredited and 11,015,665 eventually voted.

Tinubu used the occasion to reel out achievements of his administration in the last three years, highlighting reforms in education, electricity, infrastructure, oil and gas, and fiscal management.

The President said over N282 billion has been disbursed through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries, while 2.5 million electricity meters have been deployed to bridge the metering gap nationwide.

He also defended the removal of fuel subsidy and exchange rate reforms, insisting they have strengthened Nigeria’s economy despite global inflationary pressures caused by tensions in the Middle East.

“We moved away from wasteful fuel subsidies, unstable exchange rates, and weak infrastructure. Today, the naira is strengthening, foreign reserves are rising, and our economic outlook is positive,” he said.

On infrastructure, Tinubu said his administration is constructing durable superhighways, modernising airports and seaports, and attracting fresh investments into the oil and gas sector.

Addressing insecurity, the President assured Nigerians that restoring peace across the country remains a top priority.

“We will not rest until we restore peace and stability to every corner of our country,” he stated.

Tinubu also extended a hand of partnership to opposition parties, stressing that democracy thrives through dialogue, diversity, and national unity.
