The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for House of Representatives, Badagry Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Onilude Segun Adeniran, has called for unity and reconciliation among party members following the conclusion of the party’s primary election.
In a statement titled “Gratitude, Humility and the Road Ahead: No Victor, No Vanquished,” the former Chairman of Badagry Local Government expressed profound appreciation to his fellow aspirants, Hon. Sesi Whingan and Hon. Olufemi Titus Ogunsanya, for their sportsmanship and commitment to the progress of Badagry.
According to Onilude, both aspirants demonstrated exceptional capacity, character and dedication to public service, stressing that they possess the qualities needed to represent the constituency effectively.
Reflecting on his political journey, the APC candidate recalled his first attempt to secure the ticket in 2011 under the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), when he contested alongside Hon. Onabamiro, Hon. Sejiro Samuel and Barrister Sunday Kappo but lost the ticket to Hon. Onabamiro.
Rather than abandon his ambition, he said he remained steadfast, believing that preparation, perseverance and faith in God would eventually create an opportunity for success.
Onilude noted that his years in politics had taught him valuable lessons, particularly the importance of humility, patience and collaboration, emphasizing that politics remains a dynamic enterprise where today’s opponents can become tomorrow’s allies.
He also acknowledged the influence of former federal lawmaker and council chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, whose handling of political setbacks inspired him to remain focused and respectful of the democratic process.
The APC candidate expressed gratitude to supporters across Badagry, including stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, women groups, youth mobilizers, grassroots organizations and political associates who worked tirelessly for his emergence.
He particularly commended the strategic alliance with Hon. Gbenu Henugbe and the support of several political leaders, including Hon. Bamgbose, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, Hon. Rauf Yemaren and Dr. Samuel Mautin Ajose, whom he described as a selfless leader who sacrificed personal ambition for the collective interest of the party.
Onilude also praised members of his campaign council, ward coordinators, media team, community development associations, women groups and numerous grassroots mobilizers for their contributions to the success of the campaign.
He extended appreciation to the APC leadership at the local government, state and national levels for providing a transparent platform that enabled party members to exercise their democratic rights.
While thanking his family, supporters and aides for their unwavering support and prayers throughout the process, he emphasized that the primary election had come and gone, and that the focus must now shift to strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The contest is over. The real assignment begins. It is time to harmonize our great party in Badagry Federation,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that with the support of party leaders, stakeholders and former rivals, the APC would record a resounding victory across all levels in the 2027 elections.
Calling on supporters across different camps to embrace reconciliation, Onilude urged party faithful to reach out to one another, close ranks and work together for the progress of Badagry and the success of the APC.
“There is no victor and no vanquished. We are one family united by a common vision for the progress of Badagry. ONICO has emerged, but victory belongs to all Progressives in Badagry Federation,” he said.
