APC Ikeja Elects New LGA Executives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State has elected a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The officers emerged through a consensus arrangement at the Congress held on Saturday at the Oluwalehinmu Sports Center.

Alhaja Olusola Kokumo was returned as Chairman, with Mr Babatunde Obanubi elected as Vice Chairman and Hon. Adetoro Adebowale as Secretary.

Other members of the executive include Kehinde Quadri as Assistant Secretary; Adesegun Adejorin as Youth Leader, alongside Dotun Omotuyi as Assistant Youth Leader. Mrs Omotayo Arubo emerged as Women Leader, while Alhaja Bukola Badmus was elected Assistant Women Leader.

Hon. Musibau Abiodun Seidun was elected Legal Adviser, with Barr. Idris Balogun as Assistant Legal Adviser. Mr Mutiu Anisere and Princess Toyin Obaseki were elected Treasurer and Financial Secretary respectively, while Olori Lola Balogun and Monsuru Oladejo emerged as Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Financial Secretary.

Mr Wasiu Giwa was elected Organising Secretary, with Onamisan Ukiri as Assistant Organising Secretary. Ademola Adebanjo and Olanrewaju Nureni emerged as Welfare Secretary and Assistant Welfare Secretary, while Bashiru Olaoye and Gbemi Ololade were elected Auditor and Assistant Auditor.

Funmilayo Ayoola and Kayode Tawak were elected Publicity Secretary and Assistant Publicity Secretary respectively. Rotimi Adeniyi emerged as the representative for persons living with disabilities.

The congress also produced Apostle Folorunsho Thomas (Ex-Officio I), Joel Ogunsakin (Ex-Officio II), Barr. Olawale Ajala (Ex-Officio III) and Hamza Mohammed (Ex-Officio IV).

In her acceptance remarks, Alhaja Kokumo thanked party members for the confidence reposed in her leadership, pledging to work collaboratively with the new executive to secure electoral victories for the APC in forthcoming elections.

She noted that Ikeja remains a strategic stronghold of the party, being the political base of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and stressed the need for unity and commitment among members.

Also speaking at the event, the Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, commended the peaceful conduct of the congress.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, also commended the electoral officials for what he described as the seamless conduct of the process and wished the newly elected party executives a successful tenure.

The outgoing APC Chairman in Ikeja LGA, Mayegun Dally Adeokun, expressed appreciation to party faithful for the opportunity to serve and urged members to extend full support to the new leadership to ensure continuity and progress.

Also elected as national delegates were former Lagos West Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Funso Ologunde; the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku; and Mrs Yetunde Morgan.

The event was also witnessed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Hon. Wahab Owokoniran; the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Engr. Kehinde Akinola; and the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, alongside other apex leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ikeja Federal Constituency.

A former Leader of the Ikeja Legislative Council, Hon. Adetoro Adebowale, who previously emerged as Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ikeja Federal Constituency under the INEC delineation, has been unanimously appointed Chairman of APC Ikeja under the 57 Local Government/LCDA LASIEC delineation.

Similarly, Alhaja Olusola Kokumo secured a second term as Chairman of APC Ojodu LCDA, while Mr Babatunde Obanubi emerged as Chairman of APC Onigbongbo LCDA.

Hajia Haolat Mustapha, the INEC Electoral Officer (EO) for Ikeja Local Government Area in Lagos State, alongside security operatives, monitored the congress, which was widely described as peaceful and transparent across the Ikeja Federal Constituency.
