The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the Principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, in recognition of her courage and resilience after surviving a 56-day kidnapping ordeal.
Mrs. Alamu was among the teachers abducted alongside pupils during the May attack on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area. During their captivity, she was reportedly compelled by the kidnappers to appear in several video recordings used to communicate with the outside world and make demands.
Presenting the vehicle, Senator Alli praised Mrs. Alamu’s exceptional bravery, composure and unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of the abducted pupils throughout the traumatic experience.
He described the donation as a token of appreciation for her courage and an expression of solidarity with victims of insecurity, expressing hope that the gesture would support her recovery and encourage her as she returns to her professional duties.
According to the APC governorship candidate, teachers who continue to serve under difficult and hazardous conditions deserve the support, recognition and appreciation of society.
Mrs. Alamu, alongside the abducted pupils and other teachers, was eventually rescued after spending 56 days in captivity, bringing relief to their families and ending weeks of anxiety across the Oriire community and Oyo State.
Residents and stakeholders in Oriire Local Government have commended Senator Alli’s intervention, describing the donation as a compassionate gesture and a fitting recognition of the sacrifices made by teachers serving in vulnerable rural communities.
