The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the successful conduct of the party’s nationwide e-registration exercise, describing it as a major milestone in strengthening internal democracy, party cohesion, and grassroots participation ahead of the next general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday by Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, Lagos APC Spokesman, the party said the overwhelming turnout and seamless deployment of the digital registration platform underscored the growing confidence of Lagosians—and Nigerians at large—in the APC and its progressive ideals. According to the party, the exercise significantly expanded its membership base while producing a transparent, credible, and verifiable database that accurately reflects the party’s strength across wards, local governments, and constituencies.
The Lagos APC noted that the e-registration initiative has further deepened internal democracy by providing a level playing field for both existing and new members to formally register, thereby qualifying them to vote and be voted for in accordance with the party’s constitution. This inclusive approach, the party said, reinforces fairness, participation, and trust among members.
Particularly noteworthy, the party stated, was the requirement for registrants to present a valid Permanent Voter’s Card and National Identification Number (NIN). This measure, it explained, safeguarded the integrity of the process by preventing the registration of fictitious members and eliminating the inflation of figures, thereby ensuring the credibility and authenticity of the APC membership register.
The party further described the registration of over ten million members nationwide as a profound achievement that confirms the APC’s deep-rooted structures and formidable presence across the length and breadth of the country. Such an extensive and verifiable membership base, it added, attests to the party’s broad acceptability, organisational strength, and enduring connection with the grassroots.
According to the Lagos APC, the unprecedented scale of the exercise provides the party with a clear head start as the nation moves closer to the next electoral cycle, underscoring its readiness, capacity for mass mobilisation, and strategic advantage—developments that should understandably concern opposition parties.
The Lagos chapter commended party leaders, officials, and volunteers at all levels for their discipline and dedication throughout the exercise, while also appreciating the enthusiasm and cooperation of members and new registrants who embraced the process in the collective interest of a stronger and more united APC.
As preparations for the next elections intensify, the party expressed confidence that the successful e-registration exercise has laid a solid foundation for future electoral victories. It reaffirmed its commitment to unity, internal democracy, good governance, and the delivery of democratic dividends in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
