The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed criticisms by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent trip to Europe, describing the remarks as uninformed and lacking substance.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Lagos APC said President Tinubu’s foreign engagements are consistent with the demands of modern governance and are aimed at advancing Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic interests.

The party stressed that the President’s Europe trip is focused on strengthening bilateral relations, engaging development partners, attracting foreign investment, and reinforcing Nigeria’s position in the global community.

The APC noted that governance in today’s interconnected world requires continuous international engagement, adding that effective leadership is not limited to physical presence within national borders. According to the party, the machinery of government remains fully operational, guided by clear policy direction, delegated authority, and institutional continuity.

The ruling party further argued that the ADC’s criticism reflects a lack of understanding of contemporary governance and a failure to offer credible policy alternatives to Nigerians. It stated that President Tinubu’s international engagements are aligned with key national priorities, including economic recovery, foreign direct investment, energy transition, infrastructure financing, and renewed global relevance.

The APC also pointed out that previous administrations undertook foreign trips with limited outcomes, while President Tinubu’s engagements, it said, are clearly tied to measurable national objectives under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“As Nigerians look forward to the new year with cautious optimism, political discourse should be elevated beyond distractions and headline-driven criticisms,” the statement said.

The party reaffirmed its confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as focused, deliberate, and committed to advancing Nigeria’s interests at home and abroad.

The statement was signed by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, and dated December 29, 2025.
