In his sincere efforts to stem the tide of the second wave of coronavirus pandemic raving the world, the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira displayed huge leadership acumen as he distribute 1,000 school furniture, twin desks and chairs, 2,000 high quality locally made school sandals, COVID-19 protective materials such as face shields, nose masks, and protective hand gloves, locally fabricated standalone hand washing water tank and basins with 25liters of alcohol bases hand sanitizer and 25liters of liquid soap to all nine public primary schools in the LCDA at the council secretariat on Tuesday, 19th January, 2021.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Apatira who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Pastor Gbenga Oyebode and Supervisor for Education said the importance of curtailing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in our society prompted the distribution of these COVID-19 support materials to complement the initial distribution done by Lagos State Government to all public schools in the State which aids the pupils in keeping safe while at the school premises.

The Chairman highlighted that Materials and Equipments which were provided is to enhance convenient and healthy teaching and learning process offered by the teachers to pupils of Itire-Ikate Communities during this COVID-19 Pandemic.

Besides, in pursuance of a more robust vocabulary power for children of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Dr. Apatira also distributed 500 Spelling Bee Dictionaries to primary and secondary schools, to adequately prepared them for the task ahead and ultimately position our schools as the best among equals during future quiz competition.

During the course of the programme, An Heath Education Instructor, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Solanke explicitly and extensively sensitized the pupils headteachers on ways to prevent the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and further distributed coloured illustration charts and posters to be pasted at entrance and strategic locations within the school premises.

The Headmaster of Immam Shuain Nursery and Primary School, Mr. Jolayemi Adeniyi, on behalf of the Headteachers, commended Hon. Ahmed Apatira led administration’s gigantic strides which corroborates the popular saying, “Education is the best legacy a nation can offer her Citizens”.

The Education Secretary of LGEA Surlere, Hon. Babatunde Awoyelu emphatically stated that the administration of Dr. Apatira has set an enviable reputation among other grassroots government which has greatly improved the image of Itire-Ikate LCDA to the outside world.

The E.S further submitted that he is determined to harmoniously work with Dr. Apatira in the quest of the Education Board to adequately cater for the welfare of the teachers.

Surulere Apex Leader, Chief D. O Adenekan gave Kudos to the Council Chairman for having the children of Itire-Ikate at heart by way of provision of COVID-19 support materials and sensitisation of the young ones in order to curb possible outbreak of the pandemic in our communities.

While giving the vote of thanks, NUT Surulere Chapter Chairman, Comrade Joseph Olugbenga Soremekun applauded the council boss for the wonderful initiatives and numerous impactful programmes he has rendered in the Education sector.

He implored the school children to take the gospel of the good works of Hon. Apatira which is largely visible in our communities to their respective homes and humbly appeal to their family members to wholeheartedly canvass for a successful re-eclection of Itire-Ikate Numero-uno as he sincerely deserve a second term in office.
