In a significant demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of citizens in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu through the Office of Civic Engagement has presented cheques to another set of 30 beneficiaries as Financial Assistance to alleviate the burden faced by individuals and families in the State.

In her address at the presentation ceremony held on Friday at the Office of Civic Engagement’s Conference Room, Alausa Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abiola Kosegbe said the Financial Assistance programme is mainly to assist and provide relief to indigent Lagosians that have critical health challenges and provide accommodation aid or educational support to individuals and families.

She revealed that the process for collection of the Financial Assistance had been streamlined to include an initial verification and data capture process which had been integrated into the backend of the Citizengate platform and would ensure that the largesse gets to the right set of people.

“Considering the fact that we have over 20 million Lagosians, we want to ensure that whatever the government is providing goes around and minimises double applications which was the reason for the newly introduced verification exercise. The Sanwo-Olu-led Administration is providing this assistance to the vulnerable in the state and we must implore you to use the fund for the purpose it is meant for while hoping that the good tidings of this laudable programme will be shared among your friends and families”, she said.

Kosegbe noted that during the verification process, the beneficiaries were registered and assigned with Citizens Identification Number on the CitizensGate 2.0 platform, urging the beneficiaries to utilise the CitizensGate 2.0 platform to provide feedback, make inquiries, complaints, suggestions and commendations to the Lagos State Government.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of cheques to the 30 beneficiaries including the physically challenged Miss. Ayedun Ayisat Modasola. She was recommended as a beneficiary due to her critical medical condition which required swift surgical operation.

Present at the event were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Sesan Ogundeko; Director General, Public Procurement Agency (PPA), Mr. Onafowote Fatai Idowu and Directors of the Office of Civic Engagement among others.
