The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for once again demonstrating exemplary democratic leadership during the just-concluded Anambra State Governorship Election.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. (Mogaji) Seye Oladejo, the party lauded President Tinubu for maintaining strict neutrality and allowing the process to unfold transparently, without interference or influence.
“By maintaining absolute neutrality, encouraging transparency, and refusing to interfere, the President has elevated his democratic credentials to a level the opposition can neither match nor comprehend,” the statement read.
The Lagos APC also praised the new leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what it described as “a bold, refreshing, and promising new dawn” in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
According to the party, the successful conduct of the Anambra election serves as a clear indication that Nigeria is regaining its democratic integrity after years of attempts by the opposition to undermine confidence in the electoral process through propaganda and theatrics.
A Coalition in Disarray
The statement described the outcome of the election as a “brutal exposure” of the so-called opposition coalition’s fragility, claiming it revealed internal disunity, weak structures, and a lack of coherent leadership.
“The Anambra Governorship Election did not merely defeat them—it embarrassed them. It stripped them bare and showed Nigerians that behind the noise lies a confused mass of political wanderers and perpetual complainers masquerading as a coalition,” the party declared.
It further criticized opposition leaders for their inability to unite or deliver victory even in territories regarded as their “strongholds,” arguing that such disarray confirms that the much-publicized coalition is little more than a mirage.
Peter Obi’s Political Performance
In a pointed reference to the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, the statement described his post-election remarks as “comic relief,” accusing him of offering face-saving excuses after the electoral setback.
“As the reality of defeat became undeniable, Mr. Obi conveniently claimed that all the candidates were his kinsmen. Nigerians can now clearly see through these theatrics,” the statement noted, suggesting that Obi’s approach to leadership is “sentimental and unserious.”
Opposition Without Vision or Direction
Continuing its critique, the Lagos APC described the opposition coalition as “a gathering of disgruntled political tourists united by bitterness, not vision; by frustration, not strategy.”
It added that while the coalition parades itself as a national movement, it lacks the structure, strategy, and discipline needed to challenge the ruling party.
“For months, they advertised themselves as a tsunami. Anambra has now confirmed them as a puddle,” the statement quipped.
APC: A Party With Depth and Discipline
The Lagos APC emphasized that while the opposition is “busy searching for excuses,” the Tinubu-led administration continues to deliver on its promises—pursuing reforms, strengthening infrastructure, attracting investment, and restoring Nigeria’s global standing.
“Under President Tinubu, Nigeria is not just moving—it is rising,” the statement asserted.
The party concluded by describing the Anambra election as a “warning shot” to the opposition, urging them to abandon emotional blackmail and focus on performance if they wish to remain relevant.
“The Anambra election has written the obituary of a coalition that never truly existed,” it concluded.
