In what is fast gaining momentum across political circles, a coalition of indigenes of Kogi State — both at home and in the diaspora — has issued a heartfelt appeal to Rt. Hon. (Dr.) James Abiodun Faleke, urging him to offer himself for service as the next Governor of Kogi State in 2027.p

The appeal, contained in an open letter signed by Pst. Stanley Ajileye on behalf of Concerned Sons and Daughters of Kogi State, described the call as “a moral obligation and divine assignment,” anchored on Faleke’s proven integrity, political maturity, and deep-rooted connection to the people.

A Cry Against Marginalization

According to the letter, Kogi West Senatorial District — Faleke’s constituency — has suffered prolonged political marginalization, despite its abundance of competent and visionary leaders.

> “Our story is one of great potential hindered by disunity and ego,” the letter stated. “Unlike Kogi East and Central, which have produced unifying political figures, Kogi West continues to suffer due to the absence of collective leadership.”

The letter recalled Faleke’s emergence as running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu in 2015 as a “divine signal” that his political destiny transcends Lagos politics.

Why Faleke Should Answer the Call

The group emphasized that Faleke’s national experience, calm temperament, and loyalty to leadership ideals make him the ideal candidate to rescue Kogi from “disillusionment and division.”

They identified four key reasons why he must heed the call:

1. Restore political sanity and internal democracy in Kogi West.

2. Rekindle faith in governance across Kogi East and Central.

3. Unify the people under a common vision of peace and equity.

4. Rebuild trust in leadership through transparency and purposeful governance.

> “You have been prepared in Lagos — a center of political excellence — for the liberation of your people,” the group declared. “Now is the appointed time to return home and fulfill destiny.”

History Beckons

The letter drew a biblical parallel between Faleke and Moses, describing him as one who has been equipped by divine providence to lead Kogi out of “political wilderness.”

> “Like Moses, raised in Pharaoh’s palace for a greater purpose, your time in Lagos has been preparation for this moment,” the appeal read.

Final Appeal

In its closing note, the group implored Faleke not to ignore the collective cry of his people, stressing that posterity would remember him as the leader who answered Kogi’s call in its time of need.

> “Kogi needs you. Kogi West needs you. The generations to come will bless your name if you answer this call,” the letter concluded.
