The All Progressives Congress, APC, Stakeholders in Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area have stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly to counter the N1.9 billion misappropriation allegations against chairman, Mr John Ogundare.
The protesters, in their numbers carried placards with various inscriptions and chanting solidarity song in the favour of the indicted chairman.
Recall that residents of Eti-Osa East LCDA on Thursday staged a protest at the Assembly complex over the alleged misappropriation of N1.9 billion by John Ogundare, the council chairman.
Leading the protesters on Thursday, Mr Segun Williams, a resident urged the State House of Assembly to act urgently on the matter.
Williams said chairman had been indicted by an investigative report of the local government’s Legislative Council, adding he did not deserve to remain in office.
“President Tinubu increases FAAC allocation but John Ogundare embezzling it”, “John Ogundare threatened councillors for observing legislative oversight, “John Ogundare embezzled Eti-Osa East Allocation to build personal estate,” he said.
Leading the protesters on Moday, Mr Olusoji Fagbuda said the protesters that came on Thursday to protest against the chairman was a faceless group that do not reside in the locality of the area.
“They are the people that are hungry and looking for survival of their livelihood and they are now coming out to protest with an unfounded allegation against our hardworking chairman, Mr John Ogundare.
“Those who alleged they should be able to proof it and even the councillors and supervisors have told us that every allegation against the chairman has been settled”.
“The issue is a party issue and this is our party because we have to regain our locality. We will not allow this allegation to stand because we still have several things to battle other than coming to protest on unfounded allegations,” he said.
Fagbuda said before the chairman was elected, the area had several security challenges but with the intervention of the chairman, the police and with military officers sanity had been restored in the area.
The chairman even set up a security outfit called ‘Digbolu’ which they had been working together with the police and he even bought security vehicles for the security patrol of the area.
Also, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman, Eti-Osa East LCDA, Mr Adekunle Odunuga, said they were at the assembly in solidarity of their Council chairman who was allegedly accused of M1.9 misappropriation by a group.
“We are here this morning to counter a protest that happened last week Thursday”.
“We are here with my people and the party chairmen from various wards are here with me. The women leaders from various wards are here, LGAs, the Ndigbos, the Hausas, the traders, the CDCs and CDAs are all here with us.
“We don’t know them from the council and they are not residents of Eti-Osa East so we are here to counter their protest because their allegations against the chairman are unfounded.
“If they want to get details on how things are going at the council they should have come to the council instead of staging a protest in order to damage”.
