●Calls For Restraint In Churning Out Videos Thant Can Create Panic

RRS’s attention has been drawn to a viral video authored by one Officer Chimezie on Ile Zik Boat Roundabout on Lagos – Abeokuta expressway serving as hideout for criminals, kidnappers and rapists.
In the two minute, fifty seconds’ video, viewers who may not be familiar with the area are likely to conclude that there isn’t police presence in the location.
Adjacent the Boat Roundabout especially in the evening is a stationed RRS patrol vehicle before Conoil filling Sation.
Few months back, RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi positioned two RRS patrol vehicles around the area with one beside the Roundabout at night. The measure was to ostensibly ward off criminals around the said spot.
One of the patrol vehicles was removed when Isokoko Police Division deployed a police patrol vehicle close to the Roundabout. We are aware that we have both kept the area under surveillance for a long time.
Similarly, in August 21, 2021, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi visited this point where he reinforced patrol of the area with plain clothe police officers from RRS Decoy Team based on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.
While we would continue to do more in Ile – Zik, and its environs, particularly at night, we want to reassure road users on this axis that RRS would continue to do its best. Members of the public are advised to exercise restraint in churning out video that tend to create panic in the metropolis.
