The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Tuesday hosted the Area Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ojodu Command, Deacon Jibo Magayaku Sanusi, at the Council Secretariat in a strategic move to deepen the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
The high-level meeting centered on strengthening collaboration between the Local Government and the NDLEA to combat the growing menace of drug abuse across Ikeja and surrounding communities.
Chairman AKOD commended the NDLEA for its relentless efforts in protecting communities, stressing that the safety and well-being of residents—particularly the youth—remain a top priority of his administration. He noted that drug abuse continues to threaten societal stability and youth development.
Reaffirming his commitment, the Chairman pledged increased support for the agency through community-driven initiatives, intensified awareness campaigns, and improved intelligence-sharing mechanisms to curb the spread of illicit substances.
In his response, Deacon Sanusi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the critical role of inter-agency collaboration.
He assured the Council of the NDLEA’s sustained commitment to enforcing drug laws while promoting preventive education at the grassroots level.
