Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Friday joined Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and other eminent Nigerians to pay their final respects to the late Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku, wife of Cardinal (Dr.) James Odunmbaku (Baba Eto), Apex Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC).
Mrs. Odunmbaku, who passed away on June 25, 2026, was remembered as a devoted Christian, compassionate humanitarian, loving wife and caring mother whose life was dedicated to serving God and humanity.
AKOD described the deceased as a virtuous woman whose exemplary life and enduring legacy of love, service and compassion would continue to inspire generations, noting that her passing has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
Speaking at the funeral service held at the Lagos State Government Chapel of Christ the Light (Interdenominational), Alausa, Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the late Mother Celestial lived a life of unwavering faith, selfless service and purpose, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of compassion and commitment to humanity.
The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to Cardinal James Odunmbaku, the entire Odunmbaku family and all those mourning her passing, praying that God grants her eternal rest and comforts everyone she left behind.
Other dignitaries at the solemn ceremony included Ogun State Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Ojodu LCDA Chairman David Olusegun Odunmbaku, political leaders, government officials and religious faithful.
Special prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of Mother Celestial Olasinmi Akindele Odunmbaku and for divine strength and comfort for the bereaved family.
