Agric Grant: Lagos Appeals Project Trains Beneficiaries On Business Investment Plan

The Lagos State Agro-processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) Project Coordination Office has held a workshop on Business Investment Plans (BIPs) preparation and implementation for the beneficiaries of the project’s Women and Youth Empowerment programme (WYEP).

Speaking at the workshop, the State Project Coordinator; Mrs Oluranti Sagoe-Oviebo stressed the need for the beneficiaries to prepare and submit a viable Business Investment Plans (BIPs) to access the grant for the seed capital to start the business after acquring the requisite trainings in the Value Chains and segments of their choice supported by APPEALS project.

She stated that no two BIPs can be the same because of the uniqueness of each business environment.

The SPC implored the beneficiaries to be attentive during the technical sessions and feel free to ask germaine questions in grey areas relating to Business Investment Plan preparation and Implementation.

She reiterated that the Project will remain steadfast in its implementation support.

The participants were taken through trainings on overview of BIP preparation, cash flow analysis, environmental mitigation plan, record keeping, registration with Corporate Affairs Commission etc.

Also at the workshop was the Women Youth and Livelihood specialist of the APPEALS project and other Officials of the project.

APPEALS Project is a comprehensive six-year Lagos State project with a support from the World Bank aimed at supporting farmers’ productivity and their linkage to markets, facilitating consolidation of agricultural products and cottage processing, facilitating farmers and small and medium businesses’ clustering and connection to infrastructure network and business services, providing technical assistance (TA) and institutional support both to beneficiaries, federal and state governments in value chain development.

The basic strategy of the project is to increase productivity, production, and improve processing and marketing of the targeted value chains which are expected to foster job creation along the value chains.

The Value Chains supported by APPEALS in Lagos State are Aquaculture, Poultry and Rice.
