Agoro Receives Lifetime Achievement Award As Sanwo-olu Hails St. Gregory’s College
LAGOS — Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has commended St. Gregory’s College for its enduring contributions to education, character formation and leadership development in Lagos State and Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu made the commendation on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Grand Reception and Lifetime Achievement Awards organised by the St. Gregory’s Old Boys’ Association at the Naval Dockyard, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Representing the Governor at the ceremony, Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, said the institution had consistently demonstrated the transformative power of quality education, with its alumni making notable contributions to the public service, business, academia, professional practice and other sectors of society.
The Governor also applauded the establishment of the Endowment, Perpetual and Infrastructure Development Fund, describing it as a strategic initiative designed to preserve and strengthen the legacy of St. Gregory’s College for future generations.
According to him, the Fund would support scholarships, modern infrastructure, innovation, capacity development and other initiatives aimed at sustaining educational excellence and expanding opportunities for students.
In a major highlight of the event, Mr. Bode Agoro was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his distinguished career, exceptional achievements and contributions to society.
The award also acknowledged Agoro’s role in bringing honour and distinction to St. Gregory’s College and exemplifying the values, traditions and ideals associated with the Gregorian community.
Other distinguished personalities honoured at the ceremony included the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso; Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, psc, FCIPM; His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, CON, Abisogun II, Oniru of Iruland; His Royal Majesty, Oba Mobadenle Obalade Oyekan, the Onilado of Ilado; His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adegboruwa of Igbogbo; Chief Anthony Asuquo Ani, CON; and Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu, MD, FACA, FWACP, FNCS, among others.
The ceremony brought together distinguished alumni, government officials, traditional rulers, professionals and other stakeholders to celebrate the enduring legacy of St. Gregory’s College and recognise individuals whose achievements reflect the institution’s tradition of excellence, service and leadership.
