Agege APC Candidates Celebrate Independence, Reaffirm Commitment to Economic Development
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly, Agege Constituency 01, Hon. Oluwagbenga Michael Abiola, popularly known as AGBELEBU, joined party leaders, stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary at the Agege/Orile-Agege Independence Day celebration.
Abiola, who led members of his constituency to the celebration, stood in solidarity with his brother and fellow APC candidate for Agege Constituency 02, Hon. Shakiru Sule Akindele Enimakure, as the community gathered to mark the historic occasion.
The celebration attracted a large gathering of party faithful, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders and supporters from across Agege and Orile-Agege.
Speaking on the significance of the occasion, Abiola described the gathering as a memorable demonstration of unity, political solidarity and a shared commitment to the development of Agege and Nigeria.
He said Independence Day provided an opportunity not only to celebrate Nigeria’s sovereignty but also to reflect on the responsibilities of leadership and the need to build a stronger and more economically independent nation.
According to him, the economic and ideological policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy, strengthening its foundations and creating a more sustainable pathway towards economic independence.
Abiola stressed that true independence goes beyond political self-rule, noting that it also involves building an economy capable of sustaining its citizens, creating opportunities for young people, investing in human capital and strengthening institutions for sustainable development.
> “The journey towards economic independence requires courage, sacrifice, visionary leadership and a collective willingness to embrace reforms that address today’s challenges while laying the foundation for tomorrow’s opportunities,” he said.
The APC candidate also emphasised the importance of unity within the Agege community, noting that political differences should not overshadow the collective responsibility to serve the people and promote community development.
He said the celebration reaffirmed the need for leaders and residents to work together towards a future where every member of the community has greater opportunities and renewed hope.
Abiola expressed appreciation to Hon. Shakiru Enimakure, APC leaders, traditional rulers, community representatives, stakeholders and supporters who participated in the Independence Day celebration.
He urged Nigerians to remain committed to the ideals of unity, progress, economic freedom and purposeful leadership.
> “The true measure of independence is not merely the history we commemorate, but the future we have the courage to build,” Abiola said.
He congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and wished the nation continued peace, progress and prosperity.
