
Succour will soon come the way of victims of the Ado Soba Explosion as the Federal Government has promised to support the Lagos State Government in providing relief.
President Muhammadu Buhari, speaking through the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services, Hajia Sadia Umar-Farouq gave the assurance during an on-the-spot assessment of the explosion site, saying that the Federal government would work closely with the committee set up by the State to ascertain the root cause of the explosion.
According to the Minister, her visit to Lagos was at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari to have an on-the-spot assessment of the incident as well as commiserate with the people and government of Lagos State over the incident.
The President described the incident as very unfortunate and promised to assist in setting up a framework to ensure the same incident never repeats itself.
Maintaining that the federal government would look into means of providing support to rebuild the area affected by the explosion, President Buhari also offered provision of medical supplies to those on admission at the hospitals.
He commiserated with the families of those that died in the disaster and prayed for the repose of their souls.
Earlier in his remarks, the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who led the Minister to the scene of the explosion, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for sending the delegation to see the level of the disaster, and evaluate how the federal government could assist the State government in bringing succour to the victims.
He maintained that the State would do its best in giving necessary assistance to all the people affected by the explosion, adding that the present administration has commenced the compilation of data of those affected by the incident and would ensure that everyone is enlisted.
Hamzat also commended all the first responders during the emergency and urged people to move out of the site to enable rescue operators do their work.
