The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo, has received a delegation from Broadway Movie Academy as part of efforts to expand youth-focused empowerment initiatives within the council.

The delegation was led by filmmaker and media consultant Samuel Olatunji, popularly known as Bigsam. It also included Nollywood actors Bimbo Akintola, who serves as Head of Acting Faculty at the academy, and Faithia Williams, a facilitator of masterclasses for emerging talents.

Discussions centred on a proposed collaboration aimed at providing structured training for young people in Onigbongbo in areas such as acting, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, content creation and film production. The initiative is designed to identify and nurture creative talent within the LCDA and enhance beneficiaries’ competitiveness in Nigeria’s expanding creative industry.

Speaking during the meeting, Olatunji described the academy as a professional training institution focused on talent discovery and development. He noted that the proposed partnership would offer practical, hands-on instruction, mentorship from industry practitioners and exposure to global standards in film and media production.

In his remarks, Adebanjo commended the academy for considering Onigbongbo as a potential partner in creative capacity development. He reiterated that youth empowerment remains a central pillar of his administration’s agenda, adding that the creative sector presents significant opportunities for job creation and economic inclusion.

The chairman emphasised the need for sustainable empowerment programmes that equip young people with marketable skills, rather than short-term relief initiatives. According to him, investing in human capital development is essential to building long-term prosperity within the council area.

Akintola and Williams also lauded the council’s leadership for prioritising capacity building, noting that structured training and mentorship are critical to preparing young creatives for success in the industry.

The engagement marks a step towards strengthening collaboration between local government and the creative sector, as Onigbongbo LCDA explores avenues to expand opportunities for its youth population.
