Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Ogunrombi, well-known for his part in Wale Adenuga’s comedy series Papa Ajasco, has been confirmed dead.
His death was confirmed by a theatre practitioner, Husseini Shaibu, via his Twitter handle on Sunday.
He wrote, “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with #NATIONALTROUPE and one time stand in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular #waleadenugaprod comic series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is dead.
“I am told that the actor, singer and trained nurse whom we fondly called ‘Uncle Ogurombo’ (not to his hearing though) passed on this evening (Saturday)”
Mr. Femi Ogunrombi took over the character, Papa Ajasco when the former character, Abiodun Ayoyinka pulled out of the show and he carried on with the role while it lasted.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture (LCAC) has denounced the death of Mr. Abiodun Ayoyinka another cast of Papa Ajasco, in a press statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer of the LCAC, Durojaiye Olanrewaju made available to Lagos Panorama on Saturday, January 14, 2023
Olanrewaju said “The Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture will like to inform the public that veteran actor Mr. Abiodun Ayoyinka (Papa Ajasco) is hale and hearty. The person whose death was announced is Mr.Femi Taiwo Ogunronbi, his look-alike who took over his role in Papa Ajasco and company.”
