President Muhammadu Buhari has transmitted some executive bills to the Senate, including the one seeking the legalisation and institutionalisation of National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).

The president also sought approval for the creation of 10 new national parks across the country.

Buhari made the requests in separate letters to the Senate President Ahmad Lawan and read at Tuesday’s plenary.

He said the consideration and passage of the NSIP bill would provide the enabling law for effective implementation of the programme geared towards poverty alleviation of vulnerable Nigerians.

On the national parks, Buhari sought the concurrence of the Senate to National Park Declaration Order made early in the year for establishment of 10 new national parks across the country.

He also sought the consideration and passage of National Library Establishment Bill and Federal Produce Inspection Service Bill.

He said the National Library Establishment bill, when passed into law, would provide the legal frame work for maintenance of National Library of Nigeria in line with global practices.
