Gunmen rain bullets on Buhari’s advance team

An Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers of presidency going to Daura, Katsina State ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari was on Tuesday evening attacked by gunmen.

An Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers of presidency going to Daura, Katsina State ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari was on Tuesday evening attacked by gunmen.

The team was on the way to Daura, the hometown of Buhari where the President is expected to be this weekend for the Muslim’s Id-el-kabir celebration.

The gunmen shoot at the convoy of cars carrying the presidential advance team near Dutsinma, Katsina State, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy,” Shehu said.

He added that two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered while all the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.

The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.

The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.

Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.
