Obasanjo not for Igbo Presidency in 2023: Spokesman

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has denied endorsing an Igbo presidency in 2023, his spokesman Kehinde Akinyemi said.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has denied endorsing an Igbo presidency in 2023, his spokesman Kehinde Akinyemi said.

While receiving Mao Ohuabunwa, a PDP presidential aspirant last week, Obasanjo was quoted to have said that he would like to see a South-Easterner become President.

He said South Easterners they have a lot to contribute to the country.

His Media Aide, Kehinde Akinyemi today denied that Obasanjo made the statement.

Akinyemi blamed Ohuabunwa for distorting Obasanjo’s view.

“He came here and the former President received him as a gentleman and in the spirit of his 85th birthday celebrations only for him to go and put words into his mouth.

“Baba is not that sort of man and if that is the way he wants to fulfil his ambition that is a wrong way.”
