On the 8th of August 2021, 471 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

Till date, 178086 cases have been confirmed, 165763 cases have been discharged and 2187 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

The 471 new cases are reported from 13 states- Lagos (219), Akwa Ibom (102), Ondo (37), Oyo (33), Kwara (19), Rivers (16), Ekiti (15), Delta (14), Ogun (7), FCT (5), Niger (2), Edo (1) and Katsina (1)

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities
