The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) Nigeria, has organised a 10-Day capacity building workshop at the Dover Hotel, Lekki, to assess democratic dividends on Lagos residents.

The workshop, which is being facilitated by experts from the Health Policy Training and Research Programme (HPTRP) of the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan and the Lagos State Bureau of Statistics, is aimed at ensuring the even distribution of democratic dividends among the demography of the State’s population.

It will also seek to determine the number of people who are producers and effectively contribute to the economy as well as the proportion of young and old, who are dependent on the working population.

The probing of the State’s demography is expected to help the government to judiciously implement policies and programmes in critical sectors such as Finance, Poverty Alleviation as well as Education and Health for the benefit of all residents.
