Lagos State Pilgrims Welfare Board on Thursday commenced the airlift of Christian Pilgrims to the Holy Land of Israel for a pilgrimage exercise which will last for nine days and also include a visit to the Papal City of Rome in Italy.
Addressing pilgrims before the commencement of the airlifting ceremony at Christ The Light Chapel, Alausa, Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Adebunmi Adekanye advised the pilgrims to bond and unite as a team, stressing that their togetherness is essential in achieving a lot on the journey.
According to Adekanye “Uniting and bonding together as a team will give you the opportunity to identify yourselves and look after each other on this spiritual journey”.
While imploring them to obey the instructions of their tour guide during pilgrimage exercise, she urged pilgrims to take extra clothing along as it will be extremely cold in those cites at this time of the year.
The Chairman, Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB), Bishop Olusola Ore in his remarks enjoined the pilgrims to be very prayerful in order to have an encounter with the Lord and solidify their faith in Christ.
He, however, urged them to see the pilgrimage as a spiritual exercise and not for sight-seeing alone, appealing to participants to remain good ambassadors of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
On her part, the Executive Secretary of LSCPWB, Mrs. Yetunde Florence Gbafe commended the State Government for providing the platform for a seamless journey, informing the over 100 Pilgrims that the journey will be energy-sapping, thus they should consult medical personnel on the team on any personal health issues.
