Veteran filmmaker and Nollywood actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, has expressed appreciation to fans, colleagues, friends and well-wishers who turned out in large numbers for the burial of late veteran actor, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Kosoko, who is the Chairman of the Board of Fellows of the Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), made this known in a statement shared on his Facebook page.
According to him, the family of the late actor deeply appreciates the massive turnout at the burial held on Monday, August 24, 2026, describing it as a significant demonstration of the love and respect Ogogo enjoyed during his lifetime.
He said although it may not be possible to acknowledge everyone individually, the family remains grateful for the support, prayers and kindness shown during the difficult period.
Kosoko prayed that Almighty Allah would abundantly reward all those who stood by the family and grant them and their loved ones continued blessings and protection.
Remaining Burial Programmes
The family also announced the remaining activities lined up to conclude the burial rites of the late actor.
1. Eighth-Day Fidau Prayer
The eighth-day Fidau prayer for Ogogo will hold on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The family appealed to fans, friends, colleagues, associates and well-wishers to come out in large numbers to join them in prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and to ask Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
2. 40-Day Artists’ Day
As part of the final activities to honour Ogogo’s life and legacy, an Artists’ Day will be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.
The event will feature performances and entertainment from actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other practitioners in the entertainment industry, who will gather to celebrate the life and enduring contributions of the late thespian.
According to the statement, the Artists’ Day is in keeping with a tradition within the entertainment industry and is intended as a fitting tribute to one of Nollywood’s celebrated icons.
The programme will be coordinated by TAMPAN — Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
Prince Jide Kosoko urged everyone who loved and respected Ogogo to continue supporting the family and participate in the remaining burial programmes.
