The Executive Chairman of Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area, Hon. Kareem Azeez Abiodun, on Wednesday presented cash gifts of ₦250,000 each to ten retirees in recognition of their years of meritorious service.
The presentation took place during a special ceremony आयोजित in honour of staff who recently completed their mandatory years in service, celebrating their dedication and contributions to the growth of the council.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Kareem noted that the progress and stability enjoyed by Oto-Awori LCDA today are rooted in the commitment and sacrifices of its workforce. He stressed the importance of appreciating retirees, describing the gesture as a modest way of giving back to those who served diligently.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the council leadership, describing the financial support as a thoughtful and meaningful recognition of their efforts over the years.
In their remarks, the Council Manager, Mrs. Whenu Olamide, and the Head of Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Giwanson Darajat, commended the chairman for sustaining a culture that values staff welfare both in active service and retirement. They noted that the initiative reinforces dignity and respect within the system.
Also speaking, Mr. Ogunshakin, a Director from the Local Government Civil Service Commission, applauded the initiative, stating that such recognition sets a commendable standard and promotes a culture of integrity and dedication in the public service.
The ceremony underscored the council’s commitment to honouring service beyond active duty, while fostering unity, respect, and continued goodwill within the Oto-Awori LCDA community.
