Ikeja Chairman, AKOD Hosts Grand Finale of Interfaith Iftar, Unites Artisans, Traders, Media in Ikeja

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has hosted the 7th and final edition of his Interfaith Breaking of Fast (Iftar) series, drawing a diverse gathering of artisans, market leaders, and media practitioners in a strong show of unity and inclusiveness.

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has hosted the 7th and final edition of his Interfaith Breaking of Fast (Iftar) series, drawing a diverse gathering of artisans, market leaders, and media practitioners in a strong show of unity and inclusiveness.

The event brought together Iyalojas and their representatives from various markets across Ikeja, executives of the Joint Association of Artisans, and delegates from over 25 media organizations.

Addressing the audience, Chairman AKOD stressed the importance of unity, love, and peaceful coexistence as critical pillars for sustainable development and societal progress. He underscored the need for collective responsibility in nation-building, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

A key highlight of the event was his commendation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for advancing local government financial autonomy, which he said has strengthened grassroots governance. According to him, local governments and LCDAs in Lagos State have benefited significantly from this framework, leading to improved service delivery and impactful governance. He also urged continued prayers for the nation, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and President Tinubu.

Religious leaders at the event offered prayers for the peace, stability, and progress of Nigeria and Ikeja. Pastor Israel of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Ikeja led prayers for the nation and its leaders, while Ustaz Akeem Olaleye delivered supplications for Nigeria, President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, James Abiodun Faleke, Chairman AKOD, and the Ikeja community.

Goodwill messages from representatives of the Iyalojas, artisans, and the media praised Chairman AKOD’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to grassroots development. They described his administration as people-focused and progressive, noting his success in fostering unity across religious and cultural divides.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore; the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa; as well as party leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress across Ikeja Federal Constituency.
