The distinguished Federal lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, OON, has commenced simultaneous drainage and road construction works on three streets in Allen Estate, Ikeja, marking the final phase of the constituency’s 51-road infrastructure programme.
The roads include Shomoye Tejuoso Close, located behind Alade Market; Cocosheen Close; and Ogunmodede Street, all within Allen Estate.
With the commencement of works on these roads, the lawmaker has effectively completed the rollout of projects under the 51-road intervention initiative.
In addition to the completed 51-road programme, the lawmaker has approved the construction of six new roads to further expand road infrastructure within the constituency.
The additional roads are Oba Akran Road, Ikeja; Egba Street, Onilekere, Ikeja; Akinola Close off Oladoyinbo Street, Aguda, Ogba; Olutoye Crescent by Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja; Adekunle Fajuyi Street by Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja; and Ajasa Street off Babaponmile Street, Onipetesi, Ikeja.
According to the constituency office, the projects are designed to address longstanding drainage challenges, improve road connectivity, and ease traffic flow within the area. The intervention is also expected to enhance commercial activities around Alade Market and adjoining streets by improving access for traders, residents, and motorists.
Some residents and traders in the area have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward improving living and business conditions. A constituent noted that the projects reflect the lawmaker’s commitment to grassroots development and the delivery of infrastructure that directly impacts daily life.
The road and drainage works form part of ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and living standards across Ikeja Federal Constituency.
