The Member of the House of Representatives for Ikeja Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Rt Hon James Abiodun Faleke, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as an anointed leader divinely destined to preside over Nigeria, despite the challenges that preceded his election.
Faleke, who spoke at a gathering of party supporters during the distribution of rice to Nigerians in the spirit of the Christmas season, recalled the difficulties faced during the 2023 elections, particularly the naira redesign policy, which he said was aimed at frustrating Tinubu’s emergence.
“There was a time the naira was redesigned because they didn’t want Bola Tinubu to win the election. Many Nigerians couldn’t even afford to buy bread due to cash scarcity,” Faleke said. “We went into the election without cash, without anything, but God, who anointed Bola Tinubu, declared him the winner—and he won.”
Explaining the rationale behind the distribution of food items, Faleke said the gesture was meant to appreciate Nigerians and support the less privileged during the festive season. He also thanked party leaders for initiating the outreach, noting that the items distributed were symbolic but heartfelt.
Looking ahead, the lawmaker urged supporters to prepare for renewed political activities in the new year, including mobilisation ahead of party programmes such as membership registration and congresses. He stressed the importance of voter registration, warning that possession of a voter’s card would be mandatory for participation in party support groups.
“If you don’t have a voter’s card, you cannot vote. Nobody will be accepted into any of our support groups without a voter’s card,” he said.
Faleke also reflected on the early days of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), noting that many members joined when Tinubu’s presidential ambition seemed uncertain. He said the group’s faith had been rewarded, as even former critics of the President now support his leadership.
Also speaking at the event, Senator Magnus Abe said President Tinubu remains the answer to Nigeria’s current challenges, describing his reforms as unprecedented and transformative.
“President Tinubu has changed the narrative of this country and is pursuing real solutions to Nigeria’s problems in ways no leader has done before,” Abe said. He reaffirmed the continued relevance of the TSG vision and pledged sustained support for the President’s administration.
Both leaders wished Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing confidence that the coming year would bring renewed progress under Tinubu’s leadership.
