Rt. Hon. (Dr.) James Abiodun Faleke, Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, has resumed legislative duties and participated in a crucial plenary session of the House of Representatives.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Faleke disclosed that he returned to the Green Chambers ahead of deliberations on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for the 2026–2028 period.
According to him, the session featured extensive engagements and submissions from key government officials, including the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; the Honourable Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu; and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi. Several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government also made presentations before the House Committees on Finance and National Planning.
Faleke noted that the committees would deliberate on the submissions at plenary, after which the MTEF is expected to be passed.
He expressed optimism about the country’s progress, stating that Nigeria would continue to succeed under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The lawmaker, who resumed work on Monday after weeks of medical leave, also thanked members of the House Committee on Finance for their support during his absence.
“It feels so good to be back at work. My sincere thanks to the very loyal and trustworthy members of the House Committee on Finance. Thank you for holding the fort. Together, we will achieve even greater heights,” Faleke said.
