The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, on Monday, December 15, 2025, presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the 6th Legislative Council at the council secretariat.
The proposed budget, estimated at ₦9.9 billion and titled “Sustainable Growth for All,” is aimed at consolidating ongoing development projects while strengthening inclusive governance and efficient service delivery across the LCDA.
Addressing members of the Legislative Council, Hon. Odunmbaku expressed appreciation for the consistent support of the lawmakers, describing the harmonious executive–legislative relationship as essential to democratic stability, accountability and effective governance. He noted that the budget reflects a social contract with residents, with priority given to healthcare delivery, community safety, youth empowerment and sustainable economic development through resilient communities.
The chairman outlined the key focus areas of the 2026 fiscal plan to include road construction and rehabilitation, drainage projects, improved staff welfare, social support for the elderly, widows and other vulnerable groups, as well as economic empowerment for artisans, youths and market women. Provision of essential social services and infrastructure also features prominently in the proposal.
He disclosed that the total budget proposal stands at ₦9,901,183,493.72, comprising ₦5.18 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦3.10 billion for capital projects, assuring that the budget would be diligently implemented upon legislative approval.
In his response, the Leader of the House, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, commended the chairman’s development-driven agenda and commitment to good governance, assuring that the council would subject the appropriation bill to prompt and thorough consideration in the interest of Ojodu LCDA residents.
The presentation was witnessed by the Vice Chairman, councillors, members of the council management, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, youth representatives, invited guests and members of the media, reflecting a collective commitment to advancing inclusive growth and prosperity in Ojodu LCDA.
