President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s security agencies for their relentless efforts that led to the rescue of 100 students of Papiri Catholic School in Niger State, who were abducted on November 21.

In a statement issued on Monday, the President expressed joy over the safe return of the students and reaffirmed his directive to security forces to intensify operations to secure the release of the remaining 115 students and their teachers still in captivity.

President Tinubu assured parents that the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Niger State Government, is working tirelessly to ensure that every abducted child is reunited with their family without delay.

“I have been briefed on the safe return of 100 students from the Catholic School in Niger State. I rejoice with Governor Umar Bago and commend our security agencies for their steadfast work in ensuring their return since the unfortunate incident of November 21,” the President said.

He emphasised that the mandate to the security forces remains unchanged: every abducted student and every kidnapped Nigerian must be rescued safely.

“The Federal Government will continue to work with Niger State and all other states to strengthen school security and ensure a safer learning environment for our young ones,” he added.

President Tinubu stressed that the era of schools being easy targets for criminals must end.

“From now on, our security agencies, working with the governors, must prevent future kidnappings. Our children should no longer be sitting ducks for heartless terrorists intent on disrupting their education and subjecting families to trauma,” he stated.
