Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, has affirmed the removal of Police officers assigned to Very Important Personalities across the country.

Egbetokun, while speaking in a meeting with senior police officers in Abuja on Thursday, confirmed the action, noting that the Presidential order given ensured ease when implementing the removal.

This action was ordered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday. He issued the directive in a bid to increase security across the country, amid the increase in killings, abductions and insecurity.

The IGP noted the importance of the action, stressing that the Force is committed to securing the lives and properties of Nigerians.
