The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, has refuted claims circulating online that suggest a rise in kidnapping incidents along the Gbagada Expressway.

The claims, spread through a flyer allegedly issued by the Lagos State Government, warned residents of increased abductions along the expressway.

The message also alleged that perpetrators were employing the so-called ‘one chance’ method and using commercial buses to target unsuspecting passengers.

Posting on his official X handle on Friday, he said: “Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news circulating again! We have addressed it before, but those spreading false information continue to recycle it. Kindly disregard this notification. Thank you.

“We advise that you share this information with your family and friends, as heightened awareness and collective vigilance are crucial in maintaining the safety and well-being of our community.”

The government urged residents to rely only on verified information from official government and security channels and to remain vigilant while commuting.
