Two Killed as Suspected Bandits Attack CAC Church in Eruku, Kwara–Ekiti Boundary Community

Two persons have been reportedly killed following an attack by suspected bandits in Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Two persons have been reportedly killed following an attack by suspected bandits in Eruku, a boundary town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The assault, which occurred on Tuesday evening, targeted a parish of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, located on the outskirts of the community. According to residents, the gunmen stormed the area at nightfall, arriving “suddenly and heavily armed,” sparking chaos and forcing many to flee into nearby bushes for safety.

“They came around dusk and started shooting. Two people were killed instantly, and we still don’t know how many others were abducted,” an eyewitness told Lagos Panorama.

Another resident expressed frustration over what he described as “perpetual attacks” on the community in the last three weeks. He lamented that despite numerous distress calls, little support has come from the authorities.

“We have begged the local and state governments for help, but nothing concrete has come. We are living in fear every day,” he said.

Community sources said that the police, local vigilantes, and the Eruku Progressive Union have been making efforts to repel the attackers. However, Tuesday’s assault has deepened residents’ fears over the escalating insecurity in the area.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
