The 2026 Budget Community Stakeholders Engagement of Ikeja Local Government commenced on an impressive note as residents of Ward A and Ward B convened to deliberate on developmental priorities for the coming fiscal year.
The forum, organized by the Budget Department under the leadership of Dr. (Mrs.) Yemisi Razak, brought together councillors, political leaders, community heads, religious representatives, pressure groups, and members of various tribal associations — all contributing ideas towards a people-focused budget.
The Regent of Ikeja, Chief Isiaka Apena, graced the Ward A session, lending royal support to the participatory process. The interactive session allowed citizens to make suggestions, ask questions, and highlight key areas requiring government attention.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), commended the Budget Department for facilitating the engagement and appreciated the stakeholders for their cooperation and civic involvement. He emphasized that inclusive governance remains a core pillar of his administration’s I.K.E.J.A Agenda, assuring that the 2026 budget will reflect the true aspirations of the people.
AKOD urged residents to support the council’s efforts by paying their taxes and levies as and when due, describing tax compliance as “the fuel that drives community development and enables government to deliver the dividends of democracy.”
Also present at the event was the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore, who reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across all sectors.
The stakeholders’ engagement will continue in the coming days across other wards in the council area.
