President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, held a closed-door meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The officers — smartly dressed in green camouflage — arrived the Villa around 4 p.m. in a black Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van escorted by a green Toyota Land Cruiser. They were received at the forecourt of Aso Rock by presidential security aides before proceeding for the high-level security briefing, which lasted about 40 minutes.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye.
Tinubu’s latest military reshuffle, announced on Friday, October 24, 2025, was described as a decisive move to “strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture,” according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.
Maj-Gen W. Shaibu now heads the Nigerian Army, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke leads the Air Force, Rear Admiral I. Abbas commands the Navy, while Maj-Gen E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The President, who expressed appreciation to outgoing service chiefs including General Christopher Musa, lauded their patriotic service and leadership.
Charging the new appointees, Tinubu urged them to “justify the confidence reposed in them” by reinforcing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship across the Armed Forces.
