Lagos State Government has called on Corps Members of 2024 Batch C Stream II deployed to the State to imbibe good values and acquire skills in order to be successful.
The call was made by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu at the Swearing-in Ceremony of Batch C Stream II held at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja on Friday.
According to the Governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, not only will good values and skills make way for them in the camp but required for success after their service year.
In his words, “This three-week orientation programme is specifically designed for you to imbibe core values such as discipline, tolerance, perseverance and time consciousness. Although these values are primarily meant to guide your conduct during the orientation course, they will be of great benefit to you beyond the service year.”
In addition, the Governor implored the Corps Members to embrace networking, mentorship, entrepreneurial programmes and activities under the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative put in place to help participants attain self sufficiency and financial independence during and after the service year.
Similarly, the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang urged the Corps Members to utilise their period of orientation to imbibe national culture and values, human sympathy, emotional intelligence and leadership skills which would come through the military drills, lectures on topical subjects, advocacy training as well as social activities designed for them.
The Lagos State NYSC Coordinator commended the State Governor for the various ways the present administration has been attending to the needs of the Scheme in the State, promising to continue to deliver on the most important frontiers to progressively drive the economy of the State.
The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Alogba, represented by Honourable Justice Mosunmola Muyibat Balogun, administered the Oath on 2024 Batch C Stream II Corps Members consisting of 2162 males and 3154 males.
