Police dismiss trigger-happy Inspector for allegedly killing Lagos technician

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the dismissal of one Inspector Kabiru Odeyemi, who killed a generator technician in the state.

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the dismissal of one Inspector Kabiru Odeyemi, who killed a generator technician in the state.

The generator technician, identified as Bakare Idris, was shot dead by the police inspector attached to Alausa Police Division in Lagos earlier in May 2023.

According to report, the deceased was shot dead at Oregun area of Lagos after a heated argument ensued between him and the officer.

He was buried at the Ifo area of Ogun State after an autopsy was carried out on him. The family of the deceased had demanded justice for their son.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the dismissal of the inspector in a tweet on Wednesday night.

He said the development would pave way for the arraignment of the suspect, which has been scheduled for Friday, July 7.

The tweet reads, “The recommendation for dismissal of Inspector Kabiru Odeyemi was today approved. This paves way for his arraignment, which will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, assures Lagosians of his unwavering determination to police the state within the dictates of rule of law, civility and respect for human life”.
