9th Annual Elderly Citizens’ Assistance Scheme: Accept the new normal, Senator Tinubu advocates

The Senator representing Lagos Central Senarorial District Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu (OON) has urged the residents to accept the COVID -19 protocol as an acceptable way of life for now, though strange, it has become a new normal. She said this during the 30th Stakeholders meeting and 9th elderly care assistance scheme.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, OON representing Lagos Central Senatorial District hosts Her 9th Annual Elderly Citizens’ Assistance Scheme #ECAS2020 themed “Elderly Care and The New Normal” simultaneously across the thirteen (13) Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of Lagos Central Senatorial District on Friday, 11th December, 2020.

In adherence with the COVID-19 rules and guidelines, The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira decentralized and personally supervised the distribution at one central point in each community, for further Door-to-Door distribution to senior citizens across the seven wards.

In the yuletide spirit, N13,000,000.00 worth of cash, 6yards of Fabric, other souvenirs including sumptuous meal and drinks were disbursed simultaneously to 1,300 elderly participants; 100 each across the 13 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos Central Senatorial District courtesy Senator Oluremi Tinubu ‘ECAS’.

Yaba LCDA, Senator Tinubu was ably represented by Wife of The Executive Chairman, Alhaja Sidikat Aramide Apatira, who as usual keyed into the #ECAS program by giving out Food Items and Groceries as her token to further honor, celebrate and appreciate senior citizens of Itire-Ikate LCDA in the yuletide season.

Dr. Apatira further extend gifts to elderly citizens that were not captured in the initial compiled lists but we’re present.

In Yaba LCDA, it was taken to the nine wards of the LCDA. A total number of 100 elderly persons benefitted from the nine wards. The recipients were contacted earlier to choose their preferred meal before the date Each recipient got a customized pack that contained 6 yards of fabric, their preferred meal, cash and her message to the people. According to her “I will continue to have the aged as the cardinal focus because their support for me and the party is very solid.

Senator Tinubu charged philanthropic organisations to care for the aged in their communities.

Unlike the funfairs associated with the programme in the past, the elders could not dance and associate freely in compliance with the protocols associated with COVID-19. The recipient praised her for always having the aged at heart.

Mrs Oluwakemi Omiyale who represented the Senator in Yaba LCDA advised the aged in the community to go for regular medical checkup at the Primary Health care centers closest to them.

Beneficiaries wished The Senator good tidings and expressed their joy and gratitude to Senator Tinubu for usually putting smile on their faces.
