The prayer session, organised by the party’s campaign secretariat, was held to seek divine guidance and pray for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, Hamzat’s governorship campaign and the victory of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Also in attendance was the APC Lagos State Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, alongside members of the State Executive Committee.

Speaking after the prayer session, Hamzat said the gathering brought together people of different faiths to pray for the President, APC candidates and the future of Lagos State and Nigeria.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Hamzat said:

“Today, I joined Mr Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan for an Inter-Faith Prayer organized by our party’s campaign secretariat.

“We came together across different faiths to pray for our President and all APC candidates.

“Beyond political rhetoric and campaign schedules, our work for Lagos and Nigeria requires wisdom and divine guidance.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us in prayer for the future of our state and country.”

Also speaking, Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment and determination to actively participate in the campaign for the re-election of President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Sanwo-Olu described prayer as an indispensable part of the political journey, stressing the importance of seeking divine guidance in all endeavours.

“Nothing is greater than prayer. That is why we have set aside today and committed everything into God’s hands to pray for our President, the incoming Governor of Lagos State and all other APC candidates,” the Governor said.

He assured the gathering of his readiness to rigorously participate in the campaign to secure President Tinubu’s re-election and victory for other APC candidates.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Interfaith Prayer Committee, Hon. Oyinlomo Muhammed Danmole, stressed the importance of prayers for President Tinubu while highlighting what he described as key achievements of the administration over the last three years.

Danmole cited the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), infrastructure development across the country and various empowerment initiatives targeted at women among the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He expressed optimism that President Tinubu and all APC candidates would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the PBAT/KOH Campaign Organisation, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, underscored the importance of seeking divine guidance before embarking on the political campaign.

According to him, while strategy, organisation, hard work and commitment are essential to electoral success, prayer remains an important part of the political journey.

“As the political activities are about to begin, we ask for God’s guidance, wisdom and strength for all APC candidates,” Obanikoro said.

He urged party members to remain united, shun hatred and bitterness, and work towards reconciling aggrieved members ahead of the 2027 electoral season.

The high-profile gathering attracted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, APC Lagos State Chairman Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, Lagos APC governorship candidate Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and other senior party leaders and stakeholders.

The gathering ended with renewed calls for unity, reconciliation, divine guidance and a coordinated campaign as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections.
