The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, highlighting the proposed ₦5.41 trillion allocation to the security sector as a bold and unprecedented commitment to national safety.

According to Hon. Mogaji Seye Oladejo, Spokesman for Lagos APC, the 2026 Budget reflects intentional governance, prioritising security not as a reaction, but as a strategic investment in national stability, economic confidence, and social cohesion.

At its core, the budget aims to consolidate Nigeria’s security gains, protect lives and property, and create a stable environment for economic recovery and sustainable growth. Lagos APC emphasised that no meaningful development can thrive in the absence of peace and safety.

The ₦5.41 trillion security allocation is designed to enhance the capacity of the Armed Forces and security agencies, improve intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration, modernise equipment and operational logistics, and support the welfare and motivation of security personnel. The party described this as leadership that recognises security spending as an investment in protecting national assets — both human and material.

The Lagos APC also highlighted the broader impact of the budget. It is intended to weaken criminal and terrorist networks threatening national unity and economic activity, restore investor confidence by ensuring capital flows to stable and secure environments, deepen economic reforms to safeguard fiscal gains from insecurity, and reinforce social stability so citizens can pursue livelihoods without fear.

The security allocation, the party noted, aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, demonstrating that security, economy, and development are interlinked pillars.

The Lagos APC urged Nigerians, stakeholders, and the National Assembly to view the 2026 Budget through the lens of national interest rather than partisan considerations. “This is not a budget of rhetoric, but of resolve. It reflects a President who understands the weight of history and the urgency of the present,” the statement said.

The party commended President Tinubu for his foresight, courage, and clarity of purpose, noting that Nigeria is moving from emergency responses to structured, forward-looking solutions. The 2026 Budget, Lagos APC said, is another affirmation that the administration governs by design, not by chance.

Lagos APC reaffirmed its unwavering support for policies and programmes that secure Nigeria, strengthen the economy, and restore hope to the people.
