The Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, has vowed to deliver over 95 percent of the votes of Borno State to the APC during the 2023 general election.
He said he would never betray the benevolence of the party’s vice presidential candidate and a former governor of the state, Kashim Shettima.
Mr Zulum made the pledge when he received the APC women presidential campaign council, led by the wife of the presidential candidate, Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday in Maiduguri.
“I have no other alternative than to deliver the state to the Tinubu/Shettima presidential team and the entire APC. I will not let Kashim Shettima down,” he vowed.
The governor recalled how Mr Shettima appointed him as the rector of Ramat Polytechnic, while he was lecturing at the University of Maiduguri, and subsequently as commissioner for the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement, and also ensured he succeeded him as the state governor.
“We shall work assiduously to deliver more than 95 percent of the state to APC,” Mr Zulum added.
Also, speaking at the North East Women campaign kickoff, the wife of the governor, Falmata Zulum, described Mr Shettima as an asset to the country, noting that he set the pace for good governance in the state.
She said, “APC has done everything for the people of the North East by giving us the position of vice president.
“I appealed to everyone, especially women, to rally round support for Tinubu/Shettima and APC to realize this ambition”
