The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Lagos State Chapter led by the State Chairman, Comrade Sunday Sewanu, has declared support for the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima and the re-election bid of the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat in the forthcoming general elections.

In the same vein, the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Agnes Funmi Sessi and the apex union of Local Government workers visited the office of the Independent Campaign Council (ICC), on Oduduwa Crescent, GRA, Ikeja, in their numbers to express their endorsement and support for the cause of actualizing victory for Tinubu’s Presidency and Govneor Sanwo-Olu’s second term bid. at the polls.

Recall Lagos Panorama earlier report in January that Labour leaders, Lagos NLC Chairman, Comrade Funmilayo Sessi, and her counterpart in TUC, Comrade Gbenga Ekundayo, led thousands of workers held a mega solidarity rally at the Police Training College in Ikeja GRA Ikeja to endorse the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the Governor’s landmark achievements and his implementation of labour-friendly policies in governance.

The Director General of ICC, Mr Tayo Ayinde who was on the ground with the ICC Chairman and some Directors to receive them, commended the NLC leader in Lagos State, Comrade Sessi for her courageous leadership and motivational opening remark.

Mr. Ayinde expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the labour leaders declaration to support Asiwaju Tinubu presidential ambition and the reelection of Governor Sanwo-Olu

He said that by God’s grace, the incoming President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will keep his promises for the local government workers across the country.

The Lagos State Governor’s Chief of Staff said the creation of the 37 LCDAs by Asiwaju over 20 years ago (2003), is a confirmation of his visionary leadership with sincere passion for sustainable development of the grassroots, it has created more opportunities for Local Councils workers and also fast-track sustainable development.

He noted that all the agencies created by Asiwaju are now models copied by other states and some West African nations.

Mr. Ayinde stated that Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Agenda in fully in progress, and that in transportation, aside from the already commissioned Blue-Line rail, the Red-Line will soon be commissioned to help ease transportation network

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Agnes Funmi Sessi addressed the gathering with a testimonial on the performances of the former Lagos State Governor, Senator BolaTinubu and also justified the reasons Gov Sanwo-Olu deserves a second term.

She went on to reminiscent that NLC has 57 affiliates in Lagos State, after the creation of the 37 LCDAs by the Bola Tinubu-led administration in 2003, in addition to the already existing 20 local government Councils, and all the affiliate unions are in support of the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the presidency and the re-election of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

Sessi noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu donated plots of land to Labour Union to build an estate in Lekki and Badagry.

She also mentioned that the governor released land for the construction of Labour Union house in the Central Business District, Ikeja.

She declared that despite the fact that Labour Party is owned by Labour Union, she and the entire members of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Lagos State are for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and without mincing words for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.

The president of NULGE in Lagos State, Comrade Ogunfowora Sewanu Sunday spoke with great enthusiasm that the gathering was just to make an official statement, for in actual fact, the cause of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate is something they all are involved in before now.

Ogunfowora recounted before his people the time Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State and how he created LCDAs. He noted that the creation of LCDAs gave so many of them employment. He reminded the gathering that the then Gov, Bola Tinubu fought President Obasanjo’s government to a standstill, yet he was able to pay the salary of workers despite zero federal allocations for three years.

Ogunfowora affirmed that Governor Sanwo-Olu is doing a very good job for all residents of the state. He went on to assure the ICC leadership of total support from NULGE.

The event was occasioned by Labour Union Directorate of the Independent Campaign Council ably led by Mrs Iyabo Obasa.

Mrs Folashade Onajobi (Director of Women Mobilization), Hon. Abdulah Jebe (Director of Muslims Affairs), Mr Jubril Gawat (Director of New Media) among others.
